A story, to be defined as such, is the narration of a series of events that can be told. This is a concept that I like to repeat often. But what do I mean precisely by "such that it can be told"? That if I want to write the story of a boy who goes to the cinema with his friends, then goes for a drink at the bar and returns home without anything happening to disturb the natural course of things, an evening in which everything goes as smoothly as oil, well this is not a story to be written. Or, better yet, you can even write it, but who will ever be interested? When I talked about the questions to ask when developing the plot , that is an expedient, if we want to define it that way, useful to the writer for two reasons.

After you have answered his pressing questions ("And then what happens?", "So what?", "And then what do they do?"), your friend's reaction will be a well-deserved "who cares". History A story, therefore, to be written with a capital S, is a story that never generates a who cares. Unexpected event that interrupts the regular course of an action; mostly, an unfortunate event, a misfortune. Accident on the Treccani dictionary. We need to focus on the first definition. In our story we must find that something that breaks the normal flow of our protagonist's life. Accident, therefore, does not necessarily have to have a negative meaning. It is a noun that comes from the adjective born from the present participle of the verb to incidere. To have a profound influence, to make the consequences felt, to leave a profound mark on something. Impact on the Treccani vocabulary.
